Using TeensyLight16 w/ VixenLights

VixenLights is an excelent free program (written by K.C. Oaks, Thank you K.C.) that allows you to choreograph your lights to music. VixenLights supports a number of effects, transistions and allows for a schedule, etc.

Initial Setup of TeensyLights16 - for Microsoft Windows

The TeensyLights board acts as a USB Serial device [windows USB CDC profile]. While windows already has a driver for USB serial installed natively, it does not always recognize the TeensyLights USB serial interface. So you must use the following program to configure the driver. Download (be sure to download and save, rather than run) serial_install.exe Run the serial_install.exe program. On Windows 7 and Windows Vista machines you will need to run as administrator, which can be done by right-clicking on the file. Follow the on screen prompts. Once the Serial driver is installed your computer should recognize the TeensyLights16 as a serial port device. You can check in Windows Device Manager. Usually the com port will be the highest one listed. This will be need later for Vixen.
